Basmati is grown on the foothills of the Himalayas and is a small, long-grained non-glutinous rice. Brown basmati, is less processed than white rice thus keeping its whole-grain nutritional value. Basmati has the highest content of all rice for amino acids and essential nutrients. Rice is also healthy because it doesn’t contain: fat, cholesterol, sodium or gluten.

Good for: Colon Cancer, Diarrhoea, Diabetes, Coeliac disease. Bad for blood sugar spikes if you have white rice. Basmati provides about 10% of your protein in a serving. Although it contains all eight essential amino acids, it is low in lysine, so it's a good idea to combine with something like beans to give you complete protein.
